Collect as many gifts as you can, not like the ones under the tree rather those made with the talents God gave you. Use them like money, to find a reason to flatter the girl at McDonald’s, to say to a maid or sales clerk that they are good at their job. Love those around you by showering them with your gifts. Make their time with you the most memorable part of their day, sometimes a fragment of sunlight in an otherwise awful day and sometimes the glitter on a starlit night.

I have not done much work with my hands these past years even though I had always been handy with repairs. Today I fixed my truck. It was a small achievement over the effects of sunlight on plastic, but I stood back and looked at the result of my labor. I felt good not because of the money I saved but at the return of small achievements.

Gone are the days of tilting at large accomplishments and in their stead I only keep my little corner of the world tidy.

I walked down the long hallway in the medical clinic. At the end of the hall was a mirrored wall that I barely noticed. And then in the mirror I saw me walking toward myself…

Wait! A split second made me realize that it wasn’t me in a mirror rather a woman on the other side of glass doors.

Life is like this sometimes. Look long enough to see yourself.
