Where Does the Dirt Go in a Central Vacuum System?

When you vacuum, dirt travels through the hose and into pipes hidden behind your walls.

Those pipes carry it to the main vacuum unit, usually in the garage, basement or utility room.

Inside the unit, dirt collects in a bag or collection bucket, depending on your system.

The pipes transport the dirt. The collection container is what you empty or replace when it’s full.

Falls Church, VA central vacuum upgrade.

This Vacuflo system was about 26 years old and wouldn’t stop running. After testing it, we found the circuit board was stuck closed and keeping the unit on.

Because of the age of the system, the homeowner decided it made more sense to replace it instead of putting money into the old unit. We installed a newer, more powerful Vacuflo unit the same day and tested the entire system before leaving.

The homeowner also needed a new attachment kit because the old one was worn out and broken. We keep Vacuflo attachment kits on the truck, so we were able to take care of that at the same visit.

VacPan Stuck Open and Losing Suction in Potomac, MD

A homeowner in Potomac, Maryland noticed their central vacuum wasn’t pulling like it should. The problem turned out to be the kitchen VacPan. It was stuck open, allowing air to leak into the system and causing suction loss throughout the home.
