We (Tracy and I) decided to go ahead and do a “soft” (not sure what that means exactly) opening and announcement of our new business – ACES: Auctions, Consignments and Estate Sales. No worries, we are not leaving our jobs, just something that we have been talking about for some time and believe we can make it work.
More than anything this is to start to get the word out there as we truly are not ready to go gung ho yet, if ever. We are hoping that by next summer we can do 3-4 estate sales or auctions, but otherwise, in the meantime, we have our page up and running and our website will be running soon, but is still under construction.
If you are wondering what we are doing, I can blame a friend of mine, Tod Dickeson, who got me going on this with something that was a bit of a hobby, bit of a passion and a few other characterizations. But basically, we are looking to assist people that have estates, items or other stuff that they are looking to sell, liquidate, etc… This could be because of what I call the “4 Ds” – Downsizing, Death, Debt or Divorce, but there are many other reasons for doing this too. In many cases, knowing what to do with items and how to do it are challenging. So last summer I went back to school and got my certification as an auctioneer and am now a member if the Idaho Professional Auctioneers Association. I am still learning about the business, but auctions are just one method of helping to deal with these types of challenges. Keep in mind that auctions are not always live with an auctioneer calling out bids, they can be done online as well. We also want to have available consignment sales, so if you don’t have a lot or want to be sure you get certain values out of your items, we can do that as well. Both of these methods (online auctions and consignments) will be done through our website and/or the page, depending on what/how you want to do things.
In the process of all of this I also got my federal fi****ms license so that I can buy and sell guns as I know many estates have these and finding a way to deal with them can also be challenging.
We really don’t want to bite off more than we can chew to start with and this announcement is, more than anything, to let you know we are out there and if you are potentially interested now or in the future to reach out. We will be moving very slowing, depending on what our schedules will allow in the first place, but our main goal is to provide a good and needed service for our community.
Additionally, another part of the business that I enjoy is purchasing abandoned storage units and we often come across a lot of useful, sometimes valuable items. These things will also be posted as regular sales or part of auctions, depending on what I find and how much stuff there is, but if you are looking for certain things, I can definitely keep my eyes open for them.
We would encourage you to LIKE our page as this should automatically notify you when we have consignments, auctions or other sales coming. Lastly, we hope to have a way to notify you with electronic newsletters…..Maybe additional closing sentence.
