Scorpion has been stripped to clean and wax the playfield. You can see just how much dirt had accumulated over the years in the second pic! This is what is involved in a full cleaning at the shop. Always ask what’s included in a “shop job” if you’re paying someone to do it.
The following is included in our complete refresh:
1. Completely strip the top side playfield parts to clean and wax. (Yes, pop bumpers too!)
2. Disassemble playfield mechs, troughs and subways to clean mechs and replace all coil sleeves.
3. Inspect all mechs for wear and possible failure points and replace needed items
4. Replace all bulbs (standard or led)
5. Rebuild the flippers
6. Adjust switches as needed after reassembly
And of course, new rubbers and balls!
When a machine isn’t fully cleaned, dirt works its way back on to the playfield and begins coating everything much faster as not all the dirt was removed.
This Scorpion was requested to be kept as original so it will be getting standard rubbers and incandescent bulbs. It won’t be a new machine, but it will have all the feels that this owner remembers playing with family so long ago and will last another 45 years with proper maintenance.
