I’m definitely ready for fall weather to return but I will say, these summer flowers have brought a LOT of “sunshiney-feels” to the home office throughout this summer!

Since so many of my clients use Pledge It for their Down syndrome walks each fall, I’d be remiss if I didn’t share this great article from Pledge It about sponsorships - and the common mistakes that can cost nonprofits commitments.

A few of my biggest takeaways:

• Keep it simple. Three or four clearly defined sponsorship levels are often more effective than a long list of choices.

• Make the differences obvious. Each level should offer something meaningfully different - not simply a slightly higher price.

• Think beyond visibility. Logo placement matters, but access and unique experiences can make higher-level sponsorships much more valuable.

• Be specific. Replace vague promises like “social media recognition” with exactly what the sponsor will receive.

• Don’t stop after the event. Thank sponsors, show them what their support made possible and stay connected throughout the year. (This part is HUGE!!!! And so often forgotten! Don't forget to say THANK YOU!)

Sponsorship packages should make it easy for businesses to understand the value - and easy for them to say yes!

Most nonprofits know they need sponsors. Fewer know how to package their sponsorships in a way that makes it easy to say yes.

What an incredible week at the DSAIA Leadership Conference and NDSC Convention!

I’m heading home inspired by the ideas shared, the conversations sparked, and the opportunity to connect with so many passionate advocates working to strengthen Down syndrome organizations across the country.

Thank you to everyone who attended my session, shared your experiences, and reminded me why collaboration matters so much. We all have something to learn from one another, and I always leave these conferences with new ideas, renewed energy, and an even greater appreciation for this amazing community.

One of the highlights of the week, though, was seeing adults with Down syndrome leading sessions, advocating for themselves and others, building businesses, and making a real impact. As a mom, it was a powerful reminder of what’s possible and a glimpse of the future I hope for my own son. Their voices, talents, and leadership made this conference even more meaningful.

Thank you to DSAIA, NDSC, and everyone who made this week so special. I’m excited to bring these ideas home and continue helping organizations create meaningful impact for the individuals and families they serve.

It’s hard to leave the boys behind for work trips, but I LOVE that my job is directly effecting the quality of Henry’s life, now AND in the future, as I serve Down Syndrome Associations across the country. Thanks DSAIA for the opportunity to gather, connect, and learn from one another! 💙💛
