☀️ SUMMER MOMS… hey, it’s Lindsey! This summer we are focusing on “seeing needs and meeting needs” in our house. I have four kids, ages 15, 13, 9, and 7. It’s an exhausting full time job trying to micro manage them and I’m not doing it. I’m also fairly type B 🤣🤣 so I need something simple and room for grace!
Instead of spending all summer reminding, nagging, negotiating, and hearing “Can I have screen time?” 47 times a day, I created a simple Summer Responsibilities Board for my 4 kids.
The kids have to do their FAST FIVE (brush teeth, make bed, eat breakfast, get dressed, clean room) when they wake up, but after that they can chill. However, chilling doesn’t include TV or any device or screen. They have to play, use their imaginations, and not be on electronics.
IF they want some screentime, they have to do the screentime checklist to earn it:
✔️ Complete their Morning Fast Five
✔️ Contribute around the house
✔️ Read
✔️ Move their bodies
✔️ Spend time outside
However, screens aren’t allowed until after lunch - regardless. Because they need to use their morning being KIDS and not space cadets scrolling YouTube shorts. 🤣
How do I keep them off screens? I’m ruthless. I take all three tv controls and hide them, and I also unplug our wifi! Lol. Simple as that. Remove the temptation and they bloom 🫶🏼
The goal isn’t perfection, it’s helping them build responsibility, independence, healthy habits, and a little structure while still enjoying summer.
It gives ME a little more sanity too.
I’ve turned it into an editable file so you can customize it for your own family, ages, and routines.
