A South Los Angeles tow truck driver has been found not guilty of federal charges after being accused of towing a government vehicle used by ICE during an immigration arrest earlier this year.

In a statement, the U.S. Attorney's office said, "The trial lasted four days. The jury deliberated for more than three hours. We have no further comment."

A Stark Reminder. A Heroic Act. Lives Saved.

The troop car pictured below is a powerful reminder of the very real dangers of drinking and driving—and the risks our troopers face every day while working to keep New Jersey’s roadways safe.

At approximately 12:23 a.m., our communications center received a report of a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 in Knowlton Township, Warren County. Recognizing the immediate and life-threatening danger, a New Jersey State Trooper took decisive action—driving ahead of oncoming eastbound traffic and initiating a traffic slowdown to prevent motorists from colliding with the wrong-way driver.

While conducting that slowdown, with vehicles safely behind him, the trooper was struck by the wrong-way driver.

Both the trooper and the occupant of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries. Still, the trooper’s swift, selfless, and heroic actions prevented any other motorists from being injured or possibly killed. The driver was charged with driving while under the influence.

As we recognize Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign month, let this serve as a powerful reminder: one poor decision can have devastating consequences—and our troopers stand on the front lines every day to protect others, often at great personal risk.

Drive sober. Drive responsibly. Lives depend on it.

School Bus Fire; No injuries.

On 10/21/2025 at approximately 7:58 AM, Berlin Police Officers were on the scene of a motor vehicle crash on the White Horse Pike in the area of Franklin Avenue. While directing traffic, Officers were alerted to a school bus that was on fire on N Franklin Avenue in the area of Maple Avenue.

Officers responded to the scene and located a small school bus with heavy smoke coming from the engine bay area and out the back of the bus. Officers immediately entered the bus and ensured all passengers and driver were out. Prior to arrival several good Samaritans assisted with helping the one child, one adult passenger and driver from the bus. Good Samaritans as well as a tow truck driver from Linden Auto Body deployed fire extinguishers to put the fire out. Berlin and West Berlin Fire Department responded and assisted with making the bus safe and completed fire extinguishing responsibilities. Berlin Emergency Medical Services responded and verified that there were no injuries to anyone on the bus.
The bus did leak substantial amounts of fluids, which is unknown at this time if it was related to the cause of the fire. Camden County Highway Department responded to the scene with a sand truck to make the roadway safe again for travel. Linden Auto Body assisted with proper removal of the bus from the roadway.

Chief Michael Scheer and the Berlin Police Department want to thank our fellow first responders, as well as the Good Samaritans for their assistance in this matter. Quick action definitely played a critical role in the fact there were no injuries to report.
