Over 30 yrs ago, This women came to this country looking for a better life for her 2 kids at that time.
She had to go through embarrassing situations, many humiliations, sleepless nights, as a single mother scared because it was a different country, A different language, but regardless of all these obstacles that life threw at her, she never gave up or looked down!
Siempre con la cara en alto, como siempre nos dice.
She worked very hard as a janitor for over 16yrs to feed us, cleaning Gabachos Excutive offices and restrooms in the high rise buildings in DTLA at nights.
My mother decided to go back to school to learn English to better her self and to be able to understand and communicate with our teachers, and her boss, and perhaps a better paying job, but mainly to defend herself because she was tired of staying quite and being taken advantage of.

Today, my mother is a Labor and Community Union Organizer for SEIU- fighting for all of those that just like us, came to this country seeking better opportunities. Fighting for people’s rights! Making a difference in our communities!
Today she is fighting for you and me! 💪🏼
