We were 30 mins into our ski holiday, when one of our kids tested positive for Covid.
He seems fine - but this is our 2nd Christmas in quarantine, separated and masked. When we found out, our hearts sank and we cried. We - like all of us, have just had enough.
After the shock of what another year?? We started to organize. Who goes where, who can stay in high altitude and who has to go back down, and in particular how do we make sure my high risk parents, who flew in from London to visit us for Christmas, remain safe.
Then we all settled in to eating dinner separately, no hugs, no contact, playing games virtually & learning how to take it one day at a time.
It took me a moment to get over the - seriously, again - to counting our blessing and to being in the moment.
We are safe, we are well, and we have the luxury of quarantining in separate rooms, working from home or even not working. We have the ability to order in food, make cocktails and to play games online.
Plus waking up to a view like this….
we are blessed beyond measure.
Whatever you are up to this holiday season, whether you are spending it alone, in quarantine or with friends and family, I hope you and your families are all healthy and safe and that you are able to find joy and happiness.
Wishing you all an incredible Christmas and New Year….
