Just a classic Hump Day, over it kinda vibe today. I’ve taken some considerable time away from my side gigs because life has been so busy lately. I recently moved, started grad school and it’s busy season at work so I haven’t had spare time for anything.

I’ve been wanting to get back to writing consistently and revving up my clientele. Oh and let’s not forget our passion project that has been MIA for what seems like forever because we’ve just been swamped. Have I beaten myself up for taking time to settle in, take nights off and unwind? Oh yes. But to hell with that.

TLDR? Life gets crazy and for all of us busy bees out there, time off is just as important, and efficient, as hustling.

Self care looks different for everyone. I usually like yoga, going for a good coffee and playing with my dog.

It’s no secret that I’m not Black. Im writing from a place of support and with a sense of discretionary hope.

Juneteenth was recently ratified as a federal holiday and while it’s certainly a reason to celebrate, the momentous occasion will grow to serve as an ominous check mark that gets the country off the hook for future positive changes.

My hope is that the declaration of Juneteenth as a holiday serves as a starting point for more to come and not the end to a short-lived reckoning.
