It’s my Dad Shlomo’s birthday today. He would have been 93. He passed away at 68. I found a book of his poems/writing (mostly in Hebrew) a couple of years ago. It was powerful to read what was in his heart that I never knew.

Often he was a tough guy to love, but I loved a lot of things about him. His love and passion for music, for nature. For his depth and willingness to talk about things most people would avoid. That he used to take me and my sister to the beach and let us roam and play for hours. That he loved to grow things (my sister and I do too).

And closer to the end of this life how he fiercely loved my son Nathan, and the joy on his face whenever they were together.
