Have you ever made a mood board?

For fashion creatives, mood boards help make your artistic direction clear to yourself and anyone else you want to communicate it with.

A mood board is created to guide the both the aesthetic and the feeling of your fashion collection.

Some things you can include in your mood board to help you bring the images in your mind to life in a tangible, comprehensive, and useful way are
- images
- sketches
- fabric swatches
- design elements (various trims, pom poms, buttons, etc)

In 2020, we saw the rise of tie-dye and so far it has been here to stay. It was predicted that multi-colored tie-dyed denim like this Versace jacket would be trending in Spring / Summer 2022 collections.

Happy Friday!

Let's admit it. We all make assumptions. And sometimes, we're wrong.

One common misconception in the fashion industry is that a person has to be able to sketch in order to design their own collection. I'm here to tell you, that's not true.

Being able to draw is helpful, but now with technology you can use design programs to develop sketches or can work with a team to bring your vision to life. The most important thing needed to design your own collection is the ability to communicate your vision effectively.

Why on earth did I name a fashion company 'The Trend Spa'?!⁠

Well... As someone who knows all about the stress involved in designing and producing clothes, I wanted to create a space where clients feel at ease throughout the entire process.⁠

Many people dream of launching their own clothing line but become discouraged as they try to figure out everything involved or find the right manufacturers and suppliers. Some launch collections but still feel the entire process was "just too much."⁠

Being discouraged or overwhelmed isn't something I want anyone to feel while pursuing their passion. And that is why I created The Trend Spa and named it as such.⁠

I have created them for both personal and business purposes and they've always helped me to maintain focus on achieving my goals.

Vision boards are used by all kinds of people who want to motivate themselves to achieve their goals.

For fashion entrepreneurs, it can also be a visual representation of your business plan. A vision board can help communicate who your target market is, what your mission statement is, and your motivations, company goals, company culture, as well as your plans for the future of your fashion brand.

Did you attend or see any of the styles at New York Fashion Week?

Fashion week may have looked very different from what it was pre-Covid. However, there was still so much to love on the runway this year.

1 thing I loved was Sergio Hudson's collection. The colors in his collection were beautiful, the silhouettes were amazing, and the diversity and inclusion shown on the runway was inspiring.
