To convert the Biotar from Exakta to M42 mount, I need to completely disassemble the lens, machine a couple of internal parts, and adjust it to the correct fl**ge focal distance. Overall, it’s nothing particularly complicated, but it does take quite a bit of time

I just had an idea: why not combine the Magic/Petzval mod with a cat-eye-shaped aperture? It seems that this aperture shape could make the image sharper while preserving the three-dimensional background characteristic of the Petzval modification.

Today I met the lovely Andrés and Paulina from Chile and took a couple of shots with the Russar 20mm.

That’s one of the nice bonuses of my work and living in Tbilisi: wonderful people from different countries come here to travel, and sometimes I get to meet them in person :)

A very rare Helios-40 from a studio television camera

I had this LOMO OKC1-50-6 50mm f/2 lens sitting around for a long time with a scratched front element, and I never quite knew what to do with it.

Then I figured out a way to position the scratch so that it stays completely outside the image area under any shooting conditions.

The lens now has an M39 mount and focuses from 0.4 m to infinity. It can be used on virtually any mirrorless camera with a simple adapter
