Every year i get phone calls asking if i know of any internships for students interested in careers in entertainment. I'm never in the loop about these opportunities so my answer is always no. When asked this year I decided to do something different and start my own summer entertainment exposure program designed high school and younger college students who are interested in learning about careers and the business of the music, film, television and commercials. We took weekly trips to studios, agencies etc, we hosted a range of industry speakers and workshops via Zoom and we were able to create and present tv pitch decks with industry mentors. The participants were also surprised with a stipend at the end of the program. I had a blast providing this meaningful experience because my participants/students learned aspects of entertainment that isn't taught film school. Gratitude and much love to my angel stipend giver and many many thanks to my students for showing up and taking the program seriously. Fingers crossed we bring in a new cohort next summer.
