“I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe.” Almost 6 years after we heard the same last words from Eric Garner, these were the last words that were uttered by George Floyd. The grocery store called the police on him because they suspected that he forged a check. Last time, I checked forgery was not punishable by death. Officer Derek Chauvin literally kept his knees on the back of his neck after Mr. Floyd repeatedly stated that he could not breathe. His partner Officer Tou Thao, stood by and watched as Mr. Floyd kept on letting them know that he couldn’t breathe. Officer Chauvin had his knees on the back of his kneck until Mr. Floyd lost consciousness. Please join me in calling the offices of Hennepin County District Attorney, Michael Freeman, and Mayor Jacob Frey’s office to try and get some justice for the family and loved ones of George Floyd. Rest In Peace George.
