Portland’s indie folk pop ensemble Y La Bamba is fronted by Mexican-American singer-songwriter Luz Elena Mendoza, who grew up sandwiched between jaunty rancheras, corridos, boleros and huapangos, a collage of traditional Mexican music her Michoacán parents listened to.
