The millennial act of “ghosting” is now happening at the workplace: candidates not showing up for job interviews, or worse, not showing up on their first day of work. Research suggests that only 1 out of 4 candidates continue through the process without getting distracted or disengaged.

Some, of course, see this as a balancing of the scales. Companies ghost on applicants all the time by not getting back to them after interviews.

We recently finished a one-on-one Project Management training session for our client. Here are some key take-aways:
- Set yourself up for success by doing the right things at the beginning of the project.
- A project can meet its objectives and still not create value for the organization. Make sure you are setting the right goals.
- Difference between a good project manager and an excellent one is demonstrating ownership of all aspects of the project.
- Most project fails because of a break-down in communication at some stage. Conduct a stakeholder analysis and build a communication plan before a project kicks off.

Read about our team member Josh Gonzales, as he celebrates his one year anniversary with us:

Josh Gonzales grew up in Orange County, California, and has since moved to Downtown Los Angeles. He is currently studying Software Engineering at Orange Coast College, with intentions of transferring to University of California, Irvine. In his spare time, Josh enjoys many creative hobbies, such as producing music, drawing, and writing. He aspires to travel the world and live freely above all else. So far, Josh’s favorite vacation spots include Kauai, the Canadian Rockies, Scotland, London, Paris, and the Mayan Riviera of Mexico.

Before Josh joined XL-Lead Consulting, he was focused primarily on his full-time schooling. Asides from English, he has studied multiple languages, including Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and Japanese. In line with his Software Engineering major, Josh has taken multiple math and computer science courses, and previously held a Quality Assurance Analyst position at Mad Genius Controllers.

Read about our recent project utilizing Tableau: Executive Dashboard

XL-Lead Consulting recently worked with a national construction company to develop and implement an Executive monthly dashboard for Corporate IT leadership.

IT leadership was looking to understand key metrics, develop a process for data capture and display, and accurately share department performance to senior leadership. In addition, they wanted to share the information in a graphic, simple format and leverage industry benchmarks to compare performance with competitors.

“We were able to identify the important measures to be utilized (for example, KTLO vs. Invest), research industry data to identify relevant benchmarks, and develop a visually appealing dashboard using Tableau,” says senior consultant Sateen Sheth. “The dashboard has been live for several months and has improved the ability of the department to be perceived as trusted advisors to senior leadership.”
