Capital Coca-Cola Bottling Company, 511 West Morgan Street c. 1941. The old Morgan Street bridge can be seen in the foreground.

Originally the Raleigh Coca-Cola Bottling Company, the outfit moved here in 1920 from a smaller facility on the 100 block of South Wilmington Street.

In March of 1948 the building suffered extensive fire damage, but was rebuilt. In 1956, Capital Coca-Cola moved to a new facility south of Raleigh, just beyond city limits.

Grand opening of the first free-standing Dunkin' Donuts in North Carolina at 1801 North Boulevard (Capital Boulevard), 21 October 1967.

City Councilor William Worth is seen on the right sampling a doughnut as owner/operator Groover Blitch looks on. The new franchise boasted 52 kinds of doughnuts and fresh brewed coffee every 18 minutes.

Groover and his wife Joyce operated this location for 47 years. It closed upon their retirement in June of 2014.

In 2015 and 2016, the City of Raleigh purchased this parcel and the neighboring hotel parcel and razed them. This was done to reduce impervious surfaces, mitigate flooding and improve the quality of Pigeon House Branch.

Groover died last year at age 85.
