A few moments from Beecome 2026 in Agen 🐝🇫🇷

Thank you to everyone who came to meet us, ask questions, share experiences, and talk about what really matters in the apiary.

Throughout the event, we hosted daily talks at the BroodMinder stand around hive monitoring, data, and practical beekeeping.

We also held a hands-on BroodMinder-W5 workshop, where participants built their own hive scale step by step and left with it ready to use in their apiary🛠️

The best part of events like Beecome is the exchange with you: hearing about your colonies, your challenges, your questions, and what would actually help you in the field.

☀️🐝 Can a simple limewash keep beehives cooler during summer heat?

In our latest BroodMinder field study, we compared untreated metal hive roofs with traditionally limewashed roofs using real temperature data from BroodMinder sensors.

The result was striking: during hot summer afternoons, limewashed roofs stayed up to 10°C (18°F) cooler than untreated roofs.

Fin juin 2026, notre rucher a traversé une canicule exceptionnelle. Grâce aux sondes BroodMinder installées au cœur des colonies, nous avons pu suivre leur réaction en temps réel.

Dans cette vidéo, découvrez :

✅ comment les abeilles ont maintenu le couvain autour de 35–36 °C ;
✅ les différences entre colonies fortes, colonies faibles et ruchettes ;
✅ l’influence des ruches en bois, polystyrène ou plastique ;

🐝 Something remarkable is taking shape on the Atlantic island of Inishturk, Ireland.

This week, more than 10,000 bees arrived as part of the proposed Native Irish Honey Bee Sanctuary a community-led conservation and research project dedicated to protecting Apis mellifera mellifera, Ireland’s native honey bee.

What makes this initiative so inspiring is its unique combination of biodiversity conservation, scientific monitoring, local community involvement, education, and sustainable island development.

We’re especially proud to see BroodMinder technology integrated into the project, helping remotely monitor hive temperature, humidity, activity, and environmental conditions. This data will support long-term research by comparing island colonies with mainland hives and contributing to ongoing work around Varroa management and native bee preservation.

Projects like this show what hive monitoring can become beyond everyday beekeeping: a tool for conservation, education, research, and environmental stewardship.

Congratulations to Dr. Sean O’Connor, the Inishturk community, and everyone involved in bringing this beautiful initiative to life. 🇮🇪🐝

🏗️ Building permit granted: May 22 🐝✨

What starts as a simple sheet of wax becomes a true work of art and teamwork.

Watch this frame transform day by day as thousands of honey bees work tirelessly, building comb, organizing their space, and filling it with fresh blackberry and chestnut nectar. 🍯🌰

The most fascinating part? Around May 22, the colony appears to collectively decide it’s time to build. Just a few days later, the entire frame is finished and ready to use.

Captured every 2 hours, day and night, this time-lapse shows something incredible: the hive is always active. 🐝💛

In just a few days, a few grams of wax become a fully functional storage system.

A beautiful reminder of the intelligence, cooperation, and dedication found in nature. 🌿
