Every source of capital comes with its own price tag, its own risks, and its own strings attached. Some forms of capital give you flexibility. Some pile on pressure. Some open doors. And some create obligations that follow you around for years.

Think of funding as a ladder. The lower rungs give you the most control and cost you the least. The higher you climb, the more capital becomes available — but the more complicated, expensive, and demanding it gets. The goal isn't to climb as high as you can. It's to climb only as high as you need to.

The Kentucky Small Business Development Center (SBDC) proudly announces Kayla Keeton, strategy analyst and outreach coordinator with the State Office of the Kentucky SBDC, has been selected as the 2026 Kentucky SBDC State Star.

The prestigious State Star award recognizes outstanding achievements, exemplary performance and exceptional dedication to the small business community. Each year, this honor is given to an individual within each SBDC network who demonstrates excellence and significant contributions to their communities.
