This morning, we were proud to welcome business, nonprofit, and community leaders to our 2026 State of the Region Breakfast Forum for an inspiring morning of collaboration, connection, and a look at what's ahead for our region.
A highlight of the morning was recognizing Jim Cowdell, recently retired Executive Director of Economic Development & Industrial Corporation of Lynn, for more than 20 years of dedication to the Greater Lynn Chamber of Commerce and the Lynn community. We were honored to present Jim with a special thank-you in recognition of his lasting impact and unwavering commitment to Lynn.
Attendees also heard valuable updates from:
πΉ Mayor Jared Nicholson, The City of Lynn
πΉ Molly Cohen, Superintendent, Lynn Public Schools
πΉ Kristin To***co, Assistant Director of Curriculum & Instruction, LPS
πΉ Dr. Shannon Gardner, Executive Director of Innovation & Grants Management, LPS
πΉ Dr. James McDonald, Assistant Director of Postsecondary Readiness & Strategic Partnerships, LPS
πΉ Alison Nieto, Nahant Town Administrator
πΉ Nicholas Connors, Swampscott Town Administrator
One of the biggest takeaways from the morning was the incredible opportunity for our business community to partner with Lynn Public Schools. With more than 16,000 students across 29 schools, LPS is expanding career pathways, internships, early college opportunities, and work-based learning experiencesβand they're looking for local employers to help shape the next generation of talent. Whether your business is in healthcare, engineering, business, education, technology, criminal justice, clean energy, or another industry, there are meaningful ways to get involved.
We also learned about exciting economic development projects happening throughout Lynn, along with important updates on infrastructure, housing, climate resilience, and community priorities in Nahant and Swampscott.
A sincere thank you to all of our speakers, attendees, and community partners for making this year's forum such a valuable conversation. Together, we're building a stronger future for our businesses, our students, and our communities.
