1. Where is the band from? Twin Cities, MN
2. How long has the band been around? The first official SMM show was in 2016, but some iteration of this band could be heard in the halls of McNally Smith College as far back as 2014.
3. Describe the genre/sound: Ska + Punk + Swing + Funk

Lex has saved the life of each member of Space Monkey Mafia multiple times- most recently he rescued us after we accidentally sealed ourselves into an unventilated tour van that we modified, Killdozer-style, in a botched attempt to break Luigi Mangione out of prison.

2. How long has the act been around? Technically since March 2000, but only been playing under the name since October 2025

4. If someone's never heard the band before, what song would you recommend they check out first? Again, cover set, so just check out those listed acts if you don't know them. They're all great.
5. If the band was a color, what color would it be? As clear as a Sunny D Vodka Seltzer
6. Be honest, what do you make of this Lex guy? I am Lex. That said, he sucks.

LEXFEST ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Weird Place (FFO: blink-182, Cap'n Jazz, Jawbreaker, The Mountain Goats)

1. Where is the act from? Weird Place is from Madison, WI
2. How long has the act been around? Weird Place has existed under different names and lineups for over a decade; this project has been Weird Place since 2020.
3. Describe the genre/sound: Local alcoholic sad sack singer/songwriter Calen William brings you a mix of original songs and covers spanning influences from indie to emo to folk punk. I came here to romanticize mental illness and chew bubblegum and I'm all out of bubblegum.
4. If someone's never heard the band before, what song would you recommend they check out first? I'd choose "Queen of Wands".

6. Be honest, what do you make of this Lex guy? Lex is the dopest MF who's always supportive and seems genuinely excited about our local music scene. I think we first met at the Mickey's Tavern open mic but who could possibly remember anything that’s ever happened? Whether I'm remembering that right or not I'm real glad we met because Lex is a homie who always brings positive vibes to a show and reminds me that making art if worth doing.

LEXFEST ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: This Is My Tragedy

1. Where is the band from? Bonerville, USA.
2. How long has the band been around? Since New Year's Eve 2023.
3. Describe the genre/sound: It's like Emo on Speed. It's got those fast punk riffs but sad as s**t lyrics.
4. If someone’s never heard the band before, what song would you recommend they check out first? The first song we ever released was “Spiral”, and we peaked with it.

5. If the band was a color, what color would it be? Black and white but the blood’s a little richer.
6. Be honest, what do you make of this Lex guy? Oxford Dictionary defines the word “genius” as “A person who is exceptionally intelligent or creative, either generally or in some particular respect.” Lex exceeds that definition. To call Lex simply a genius would, perhaps, destroy the fabric of space and time as we know it. A modern day Mister Ed, Lex once wrote a song about Bamboo Harvester, but knew that if such divine words fell on simple ears, it could potentially cause serious damage, like what Jables’ voice does to that one guy in the “Master Exploder” dream sequence in Pick of Destiny, so he kept the song to himself. He also once wrote a rap song about sending a guy to the electric chair for leaving the stove on, so he’s pretty much got that songwriting thing down pat. He also knows everything about anything, as long as he cares to know something about that anything, otherwise he knows nothing about that anything, and that’s alright. Oxford Dictionary also defines other words like nefandous, which means “Not to be spoken of, unmentionable; abominable, atrocious”, which just happens to be the word of the day as of this writing. It would be nefandous to say that Lex isn’t a genius. While on the topic of dictionaries, Lex also just so happens to be related to Noah Webster. You know, the dictionary guy. We’re not just making that up for a bit, that’s a true fact. All in all, Lex is a pretty rad guy, who put together a pretty rad fest with some pretty rad bands, and that’s pretty rad if you ask us! (Lex wrote this, by the way. This is his band.)

6. Be honest, what do you make of this Lex guy? We met Lex a few years ago when we discovered a dead body in the woods after he overheard his older brother talking about it. Since then we have had a ton of adventures. We entered a pie eating contest that ended in a real barf-o-rama. We also went swimming once in a lake that was full of leeches... but we stand by Lex for sure.

1. Where is the band from? The band is from Madison, Wisconsin
2. How long has the band been around? We haven't existed for very long and can only manifest under very specific conditions. Things like air temperature and alignment of the moon and sun all play a factor in our ability to exist in the mortal realm. (About a year)
3. Describe the genre/sound: Neurotopunk
4. If someone's never heard the band before, what song would you recommend they check out first? If you haven't heard us before, I would recommend "Buffett" or "Hello, Goodbye". Both would give you a good idea of what we're about.

1. Where is the band from? Madison, WI
2. How long has the band been around? Since 2023; first show January 2024
3. Describe the genre/sound: Kinda like boom boom bah, di**le di**le pop, "shove a glass rod in yer dickhole"
4. If someone's never heard the band before, what song would you recommend they check out first? "Snot Water"

6. Be honest, what do you make of this Lex guy? I like this model -- it has some pretty fun upgrades (outfits, idioms, dance moves) yet keeps the spirit of the old models. Worth the extra dough for the security updates alone. Just wish the shipping costs weren't so outrageous.

3. Describe the genre/sound: Fast punk songs, occasional uppicking ska bulls**t
