While doing some renovation work on an overhang/awning on the property, we discovered these baby falcons, specifically American Kestrels. They were narrowly missed by a Sawzall in the space they were located.

Since the nest had been destroyed, Raptor Rehabilitation of Kentucky Inc came out to get them, and when they are healthy adults they will be likely released back in the area.

American Kestrels are a Threatened Species that has been in a population decline. They are one of the smallest members of the falcon family. Kestrels can dive at up to 39mph and have excellent vision for hunting mice and other small animals.

There may be a possibility of having a public release of these birds on our property in the future!

Larue County Business Spotlight:

Here at the Old School Market, we’d like to recognize a few local businesses this month that we’ve had great experiences with.

For starters, Log Cabin Automotive on Fairview Drive in Hodgenville has been a great help in keeping our business vehicles running. They do excellent work at a reasonable rate, in a speedy manner. It’s really hard to find a place that can hit all of those points!

We’ve had them do:

Timing chains on multiple vehicles

Oil changes on many vehicles

Fix brakes, fuel leaks, tires on multiple vehicles.

Diagnose difficult issues that may require modification (like adding AC to a work truck that wasn’t originally equipped with it)

They deserve a lot of praise! Please give them a look and let them know we sent you!
