real talk about running a print shop in 2026.
everybody thinks you get into this business cause you like making pretty shirts or slapping stickers on stuff.
nah.
you get into it because one day you looked at the markup on a $4 blank tee that sells for $28 and thought "i can do that." then you spend the next 5 years realizing the markup ain't the hard part. the hard part is teh customer who wants 500 shirts in 3 days, the ink that went bad last tuesday, adn the machine that decides to eat a $200 roll of vinyl right before a deadline. You bust your a** on getting an 200 shirt order done as fast as you can and then it sits here for a month before it’s picked up
but here's the thing nobody tells you — you learn more about running a business in 6 months of print shop ownership than 4 years of business school.
you learn pricing. margins. customer psychology. supply chain. time management. crisis control. sales. marketing. branding. all of it. by fire.
so if you're thinking about starting — know what you're signing up for. it ain't passive. it ain't easy. but it'll make you dangerous. Real life
what's the hardest lesson your business taught you this year?
