More from the fun with Rose, Greg, and Hayley: the crew behind the work and the energy that moved things forward at the DTC this semester! 😍🙌✈️

Most internships end with a quick thank-you email and a wave. That’s not how we do things at the DTC. 🚀

Bryan and Kristy took the team out for an afternoon of putt-putt and 10-pin bowling to close out the semester. It was a chance to step away from the day-to-day and spend time with the crew behind the work. ⛳️🎳 Rose, Greg, and Hayley didn’t just participate this semester, they showed up, contributed, and helped move things forward. Thank you for the energy, the ideas, and the impact!

Decision-making at the DTC took a turn today... ⚔️ Bryan Stewart and Megan Hallstrom just upgraded our digital transformation toolkit with new decision making hardware. Happy !

At the DTC, it starts with one question: What’s next? 🔮

For Megan Hallstrom, our Tech Scout, that means scanning emerging tech, and turning insight into action. Her background in physics shows up in how she works: looking for patterns, systems, and what’s underneath the noise.
Her work supporting the Air Force’s five-year digital transformation roadmap helped lay the foundation for our Insight Lab Series, turning strategy into real conversations and outcomes.

This video captures a week of that work in motion around the DTC. Not just tracking what’s next, helping shape it.

Dr. Ann Carbonell, Principal Technical Advisor at the DTC, recently participated in the 2026 Digital Transformation Summit hosted by the Potomac Officers Club, serving as a panelist on “Mission Engineering at Scale: The Digital Backbone of Defense Modernization.”

The session brought together leaders across government and industry to take on a common challenge: how to move digital transformation beyond disconnected tools and into something that actually works at scale. The conversation centered on building an integrated backbone one that connects strategy, data, tools, and decision-making across the full lifecycle to support mission engineering, accelerate acquisition, and deliver real operational outcomes.

Dr. Carbonell emphasized that getting there isn’t just a technology shift. It requires alignment across workforce, acquisition strategy, and digital infrastructure so efforts don’t stall at innovation, but move into ex*****on.

That throughline is familiar to us. At the DTC, we’re focused on creating the environment where those pieces come together so government, industry, and academia can work across boundaries to operationalize digital transformation, not just talk about it.

POV: Hayley here!🎥

This past week was honestly one of the coolest experiences I’ve had! Along with being a Digital Media and Marketing Assistant intern, I also work as a FlyerTV Manager at the University of Dayton, and I had the opportunity to go on the Flyers in Hollywood trip.

While I was there, I got to visit University of Dayton alumni at some incredible places like Netflix, Entertainment Tonight, Sony Studios, Let's Make a Deal, and the Grammy Museum. At the end of the week I was able to attend an alumni event, which personally was my favorite part. It was such a surreal experience seeing professionals doing what I hope to do one day. I even got to see some of the Emmys that Arcane won at the Netflix studio, which was especially exciting since it is one of my favorite shows.

I’m really passionate about production management, creative marketing, animation, and children’s entertainment, so getting a behind the scenes look at all of this was amazing. I had an absolute blast and left feeling even more excited about where I want to take my career.

Being part of the Digital Transformation Center has also played a huge role in preparing me for these kinds of opportunities. It has allowed me to really build on my skills as a student and feel confident heading into my professional career post grad. I have worked on over 25 videos for the DTC, including a 15 episode vertical series, helped support photography and videography at over 30 events, and even done outreach to universities. This experience has truly prepared me for what is next, and I am so excited for the future.

We’re excited to welcome Dan Prindle, our Principal Program Manager, to the DTC team!

Dan brings a strong blend of engineering expertise and program leadership to the DTC. A proud University of Dayton Flyer, he earned both his Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and his MBA from UD and holds a PMP (Project Management Professional) certification. A Dayton native, former UD football player, and longtime volunteer, he takes a disciplined, outcomes-focused approach to program management.

Dan is driven by connection and problem-solving, with a focus on building understanding across teams to tackle meaningful challenges.

Outside of work, he spends time with family and friends, coaches his kids’ sports teams, volunteers, works on projects at home, and gets outdoors whenever he can. Welcome, Dan!

Last week we partnered with the Air Force Rapid Sustainment Office and University of Dayton Research Institute to welcome 175 third graders from Kettering City Schools for a hands-on engineering challenge. Students designed and built wind turbines from recyclables, working through the Engineering Design Process with support from AFRSO and UDRI volunteers, alongside Fairmont High School Career Tech students.

Behind the scenes, this came together through the organization talents of our Workforce Development team, Kristy Fairfax and Bryan Stewart, in close coordination with Carly Maguire from Kettering City School District. DTC interns Rose and Tomi also played important roles, organizing volunteers and coordinating logistics.

The student designs are now being 3D printed, with a follow-up competition in May to test which turbines generate the most voltage. Follow us to see which student teams engineering design win the competition!

On April 2nd, the center was packed with driven, curious students giving us a firsthand look at the next generation of digital innovation.

Students from Russ College of Engineering and Technology and the of Dayton filled the DTC with hands-on demos from VR and digital twins to autonomous systems. These weren't just academic concepts; they were real-world applications designed to tackle complex challenges.

The tech was impressive, but the collaborative energy in the room was the real highlight. The attendees from industry, academia, and government spent the afternoon diving into the "how" and "why" behind these projects. This is exactly why we’re here: to bridge the gap between emerging talent and the real-world problems that need solving.
