☀️🚗 SUMMER CAR CARE TIPS YOU DON’T WANT TO IGNORE! 🚗☀️

Kansas summer heat is HARD on your vehicle! 🔥🥵 A little prevention now can save you from sitting on the side of the road later.

Before you hit the road, take a few minutes to check these:

🔋 1. CHECK YOUR BATTERY
Summer heat can be tough on batteries and can shorten their life. If your battery is getting older, have it tested before it leaves you stranded.

🛞 2. CHECK YOUR TIRES
Hot pavement + low tire pressure = trouble.
✔️ Check pressure when tires are cold
✔️ Look for cracks, bulges, or uneven wear
✔️ Don’t forget the spare!

🌡️ 3. KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR TEMP GAUGE
If that temperature starts climbing, DON’T keep driving and hope it comes back down. Pull over somewhere safe and shut it down before a small problem becomes a BIG repair.

💧 4. CHECK YOUR FLUIDS
Coolant, engine oil, brake fluid, transmission fluid and other fluids all need to be at the proper levels. Your cooling system works overtime in the summer!

❄️ 5. MAKE SURE YOUR A/C IS READY
If your A/C isn’t blowing as cold as it used to, don’t wait until the hottest day of the year to find out there’s a problem.

🔧 6. LOOK AT BELTS & HOSES
Cracks, bulges, soft spots or excessive wear can turn into a breakdown when temperatures climb.

Water 💧
Flashlight 🔦
Jumper cables 🔋
First-aid kit 🩹
Basic tools 🔧
Phone charger 📱

☀️ BONUS TIP: Park in the shade whenever you can and use a windshield sunshade. It can make a BIG difference in how hot your vehicle gets inside.

🛞⚠️ TIRE SAFETY: 5 MINUTES COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE! ⚠️🛞

Your tires are the only thing connecting your vehicle to the road. Before you hit the highway, take a few minutes to make sure they’re ready to get you there safely.

🔥 CHECK YOUR TIRE PRESSURE
Hot weather, cold weather, and everyday driving can affect tire pressure. Check your tires when they’re cold and keep them inflated to the pressure listed on your vehicle’s door-jamb sticker.

👀 LOOK FOR DAMAGE
Check for:
• Cracks or cuts
• Bulges
• Nails or other objects
• Uneven tread wear
• Tires that look low

📏 CHECK YOUR TREAD
Worn tires have less grip, especially when roads are wet. If your tread is getting low, it’s time to start thinking about replacement.

🔄 DON’T FORGET THE SPARE!
A spare tire doesn’t help much if it’s flat when you need it. Check its condition and pressure too.

🚨 PAY ATTENTION WHILE DRIVING

Manhattan drivers: please SLOW DOWN in school zones when the yellow lights are flashing, even if the area is also a work zone.

When school zone signals are flashing, the speed limit is 20 mph. Please stay alert and watch for children walking, biking, riding scooters, etc.

Remember to use extra caution around construction crews and changing traffic patterns. (Which means you need to use all the caution, because work zones are literally everywhere right now.)
