Tucked into the charm of , this unforgettable evening with chef was equal parts elegance and pure fun. The highlight: a blind tasting of iconic 1989 Bordeaux—each poured without pretense, inviting curiosity, debate, and a bit of friendly competition around the table. The lineup was nothing short of legendary: 1989 Château Cheval Blanc, 1989 Château Lafite Rothschild, 1989 Château Latour, 1989 Château Mouton Rothschild, 1989 Château Margaux and 1989 Château Bel-Air. Even the most seasoned palates were surprised, second-guessing, and occasionally humbled as each glass revealed its character in its own time. Paired with my favorite, homemade duck confit, the wines showed beautifully—silky, expressive, and still remarkably alive. It was one of those rare nights where the bottles were extraordinary, but the energy around the table made it unforgettable.
