When clothes start taking longer to dry, it's natural to assume the appliance is wearing out. But often, the real problem is hidden in the vent system.

Lint buildup, crushed transition hoses, blocked exterior vents, and other airflow restrictions can all interfere with drying performance.

That's why we believe in looking at the whole vent system, not just cleaning out the lint.

One of our favorite calls is when we get to tell a homeowner their dryer probably isn't broken after all! There's something really satisfying about finding the real problem and helping a homeowner avoid an unnecessary expense.

Sometimes "whatever they sell at the hardware store" isn't quite good enough.

Fortunately, we've got some pretty creative problem-solvers around here. 😊

We actually design and 3D print some of our own installation pieces when we need a part that fits a particular situation better than the standard options available. These custom trim plates are one example.

Is it a tiny detail? Yep.

Will most homeowners ever think about the trim plate behind their dryer? Probably not.

But we will. Because whether it's something you'll see every day or something that will spend the next ten years hidden behind your dryer, we want the job done right; and we want it to look like someone cared when they did it.

Not every dryer vent job looks the same and some come with a pretty great view!

We recently got to install a DryerWallVent on this beautiful red barn, which was a fun change of scenery from the usual laundry room wall.

DryerWallVents are a clean, low-profile option that help protect airflow while giving the outside termination a more finished look. They can be a great fit when the vent exit is visible and you want something that works well without sticking out awkwardly. They are designed to keep pests out without restricting airflow.

Dryer vent service is more than just brushing lint behind the dryer. Here are a few things we found and fixed recently:

• Nests - this is the season for nest-blocked vents.
• Lint-clogged screens that restrict airflow.
• Vents needing safer, better termination covers.
• Vents so compacted that the lint has backed up all the way into the dryer.
• Vent paths in crawl space and attics that need repair or rerouting to work properly.

Every home is a little different and every day brings interesting stories, fascinating people and pets, and a lot of satisfaction for a job well done and homes made safer and more efficient.

Tight laundry room? Don’t crush the dryer hose.

When a dryer has to be pushed back into a small space, the transition hose behind it can easily get crushed or kinked. That restricts airflow and can make the dryer work harder than it should.

For tight spaces, we often recommend a MagVent dryer vent connection.

MagVents use a magnetic connection to help the dryer line up with the vent more easily, so the dryer can sit back neatly without crushing the hose behind it.

In most homes, we install the MagVent in the wall, which usually allows the dryer to sit even closer.

In this laundry room, we determined that a wall installation wasn’t the best option because of the framing behind that area. So we installed the MagVent through the floor instead — giving the homeowner a cleaner, more secure connection while still protecting airflow in a tight space.

MagVents can be especially helpful when:
• The laundry room is small
• The dryer needs to sit close to the wall
• There isn’t room to reach behind the dryer
• The current hose keeps getting smashed, kinked, or disconnected
• You want better airflow without giving up space

At Mama Bear, we don’t just clean dryer vents. We look at how the whole system is working — including the connection behind the dryer.
