Why network reliability depends on more than faster internet:
A faster plan helps. It does not fix every weak link.
In multi-unit buildings, reliability usually breaks somewhere behind the service line. Congestion, outdated cabling, overloaded equipment, and wireless interference can all create the same complaint: slow speeds, dropped calls, and patchy coverage.
That is why the first question should never be, “Can we buy more bandwidth?” It should be, “What is the actual bottleneck?”
We see this pattern often in properties where the internet service looks fine on paper, but the building infrastructure was built for lighter demand. Once more tenants, more devices, and more traffic hit the network, the weak points show up fast.
The fix starts with the right diagnosis:
- Check for shared bandwidth congestion.
- Review cabling quality and layout.
- Inspect network equipment capacity and configuration.
- Look at wireless design, barriers, and interference.
One 100-unit apartment complex made that shift. After upgrading its cabling to fiber optics, speeds increased 5x and complaints dropped significantly.
That is the real lesson. Reliable internet is not just about the provider. It is about the building-side infrastructure that has to carry the load every day.
