Our girl Kendall: she is as local as it gets - born and raised right here in Myrtle Beach to two serial entrepreneurs. Her mom is of the creative set, taking her talents to the world of interiors. (Think cinematic feel with a storied patina.) And it seems the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. Kendall’s penchant for design has led her to explore her own array of interests — so many that it’s hard to capture in the confines of a caption.

Kendall is a hunting, surfing, photographing, laughing, jet-settling graphic designer. If you couldn’t gather, she’s someone who possesses an insatiable appetite for adventure. (Did we mention she’s engaged to a Kiwi she met in New Zealand?) Be it hunting with her dad and brothers; traveling to Thailand; or calling Australia home for a year … there’s no shortage of seeking for Kendall. Her sense of curiosity and spontaneity drives her and informs/infuses all that she creates. Kendall’s zest for life is infectious. And despite her love for travel (or, more accurately, in light of it), she has decided to firmly place her roots here, sewing her creative seeds locally.

Organically and often quietly, Kendall spins webs of connectivity and community … most notably, she’s the brains behind , where she cooks up some of the most epic local brand logos and branding kits. She’s also the creator of the , a vehicle for local female surfers and photographers to connect (PS they have some seriously cool sundries you should *add to cart* if you catch yourself chasing waves). We’re truly just scratching the surface.

Kendall has an incredibly discerning eye and a strong propensity to share her point of view through every channel she can, all to enrich the place she proudly calls home. To know her is to be inspired. We had the best time shooting at her family’s farm. From UTV rides to straw fields to cattle pastures … it was a day ripe with immersive inspiration and it felt as if we had escaped into a world she and her family created. It was picture-perfect. This one is extra fun to feature for so many reasons -- one being she is the person who first encouraged Machel and I to connect!! She is legit the best ... can't wait to tell you guys more about why we're so lucky to have her. In the meantime, say hey to !

AH! Where to even start? First of all, hi! For those of you who don't know me or are new here, the brunette perched in the photo above is me (Kira)! And the beautiful blonde standing next to me with the camera in her hand is Machel. We are the women behind the Locals Who Inspire series that you've seen flooding our business pages since we rang in 2021.

In a few short months, a series that we created as a simple passion project has developed (quite long) legs of its own. Machel and I, when asked about how this initiative came about, can't pinpoint a specific moment or a game-changing conversation. All we can honestly say is we are two creatives (and friends) with two complementary businesses who sat down determined to do something to give back to the community we love... and we knew there was no better way than to create a platform to showcase all the incredible places and people we have right here in our own backyard.

The Myrtle Beach that Machel and I know is one filled with endless beauty, talent, positivity, inspiration and ... beyond that ... an intangible essence that invites so many of us to proudly call this home. I really could say so much about this series; but I think what is more appropriate is simply letting it speak for itself.

Our collaborative efforts that are made manifest in these photos, while the catalyst, aren't what has made this special. You all have made this special -- the ones we've spotlighted; the ones reaching out to the ones we've spotlighted; the businesses that have participated; the ones throwing us likes and comments; the ones coming up to us when we're out and about; the ones DM-ing us with incredible affirmation and amazing suggestions. While I'm not sure exactly where this will go, I'm reveling in where it already has gone and trust that whatever it needs to do will get done.

I'm so excited for what's up ahead! As always, stay tuned.

Without further adieu ... we couldn't be more thrilled to introduce our next Local who Inspires: Kristine Zilonka! Kristine is a born-and-raised local who, after college, set her sights on NYC to pursue her love of style and fashion. This pursuit led Kristine to a role working for the indelible Saks Bridal, helping high-profile brides select their perfect looks for their big days from the most coveted bridal styles. Kristine decided to bring her talents back here to Myrtle Beach to offer locals something that she felt was missing ... something different than what was already here.

Fast forward and you'll find that Kristine opened Melrose in Magnolia Row (just one month pre-COVID)! Not only has Kristine managed to survive a global pandemic that's shuttered even the most seasoned of fashion retailers; but she truly has thrived. We can only attribute this to Kristine's vision for Melrose.

Melrose is a place that welcomes women of all ages, stages, and sizes. We're talking anybody and any body. (I mean, you can find denim from sizes 00 - 16 and beyond.) It's a place where women can feel celebrated and encouraged through the lens of style. Not only are you going to find top-notch selections from some of the most stylish brands; but you can rest assured that you're also going to encounter world class customer service.

Kristine's efforts to champion style, inclusivity, and empowerment are all not just incredibly admirable but they're necessary. We're so grateful to have her and her business here as part of the Myrtle Beach community!! We know this will only give rise to so many more incredible things! Here's to and doing it in style.

Instagram, meet , a sunny soul who was born and raised right here in Myrtle Beach! And for those of you who have been following along, you guessed it … she’s one of our amazing locals. There’s so much to highlight about Caly and what makes her such an awesome addition to our local community — her humor; creative vision; and history of community-building efforts at the Boys & Girls Club of the Grand Strand to name a few things. But her creativity takes the cake when it comes to something to buzz about.

Whether she’s breathing life back into an old house or painting a canvas or hair (check out her IG to see what I mean), she’s constantly creating. Caly has such a radiant spirit that fuels her relentless sense of curiosity and exploration. She has an uncanny ability to tune out what’s going on around her and dig deep into the things that set her heart alight. She takes these sentiments and infuses them into the world around her in various and tactile ways.

As an added bonus, she has killer taste in music (think Benee, Glass Animals, and Bee Gees), and an enviable aversion to anything too serious or stuffy. You can find her laughing, dancing, or embracing her self-defined “weirdness” … which she proudly claims as one of her favorite things about herself.

Being around Caly makes you want to channel your inner untamed creative self. You’ll find yourself itching to disregard the rules and pour from the soul. You can call it an inspiration … or you can call it invitation to channel some of your heart and talent into community-building restorative efforts.

I introduced Natasha as our most recent local who inspires in this series in my last post... and I wasn't kidding when I said that to know her is to love her! Where do I even start?

Natasha is the kind of person who makes you feel instantly at ease when you meet her, as if you've known her forever. She radiates so many incredible things -- optimism, generosity, and humility, just to name a few. She seriously has the best energy and such a luminous spirit. Getting to know her has been the gift that keeps on giving.

She's hilarious and talented. (Check her personal IG, for the realest, funniest stories.) She's also incredibly hard-working.

This newly minted entrepreneur has turned her natural gift for hosting into a rapidly growing business where she sells THE most beautiful charcuterie boards through her company for just about any occasion (or for a really great night in).

As if this isn't enough for anyone to tackle at once ... she' doesn't stop there. Natasha manages all this, all while being an amazing mama to 3 beautiful and wild boys (like our last local, Elizabeth)! Watching her navigate this awesome journey serves as a potent reminder to trust the process; to be brave; to be kind; and to look beyond yourself. I could truly go on and on ... but you should do yourself a favor and get to know her instead.

She's called Myrtle Beach home for over 15 years and our local community is all the better for it. Thank you, Natasha, for being a part of this series and for making it so easy to highlight all the amazing things about you!
