One of those very special memories from 7 years ago….looking out into the back yard and seeing Jackson with a deer. My little animal whisperer ❤️ I miss those beautiful Salt Lake City winters.

The little girl is me.... and my small teddy bear is social media. I have been hanging on to this like it brings me life.... it doesn't.

I don't like when people announce how they are stepping away from social media--- but I am doing this because I get several messages in DM's daily.

From now until at least January 2024--- you can text me or send me an email. If we don't know each other well enough that you have these-- you can connect through my website at www.cindybriggsphd.com

I appreciate all of you, and wish you the very best during our upcoming holiday season. I am looking forward to spending more time focusing on the things only Jesus can provide ;-)

I will pray for you... (something we hear often). Let's really do this.....I'll explain at the end.

A bit of a story--- last month I was sitting in church crying)-- you know the big, ugly tears. My dear friend Krista Pence came and sat by me, hugged me, and HEARD me. I told her I was tired of being angry all of the time.

She immediately grabbed me and took me to the front of the church, knelt down beside me and told me to let it go right there. All of the anger, all of the hurt, all of the pain. This was the start.....

Over this last month I have done so much praying--- and soul searching. I have been trying to even name the anger.

- Anger over the situation with my daughters
- Anger with the entire foster/adopt system
- Anger with friends who left me
-Anger with groups in our homeschool journey
- Anger with people who have spoken behind my back
- Anger with individuals in our community who just aren't who them seem
- Anger with people being so fake on social media
- Anger with someone I thought who was a mentor who wasn't
- Anger with both of my parents dying (and feeling like I was alone through both)
- Anger with bad jobs, bad bosses, bad co-workers
- Anger with a friend from college....I guess I thought we were still friends
- Anger at my dog for peeing on the floor (consistently)
- Anger at the nasty email I received
- Anger.... anger... anger... the little and the big

Eleven years.... eleven years ago TODAY we stood before a judge and signed adoption papers for our two daughters. It seems like a life time ago... with SO many ups and downs.

In June 2011, we received our foster license after one long year of classes, visits, etc. It was a painful process, but after two late term miscarriages we were ready to adopt children to give them all the love and home we had to share. Two days after we got our license, we got the call that they had two little girls (sisters) who needed a home. We immediately said YES! We had no idea what we were doing...but we were ready to take on the challenge.

There are many, many stories between June 2011 and September 2012 (when we officially adopted) and I will share those a bit later-- but just know the process was the hardest thing we had ever been through. Also, during that time we found out we were pregnant (also a big story).... so our adoption picture below was September 28, 2012 and Jackson was then born in December 2012. Yea... WOW!

Sometimes life is hard. There is so much to do (always). So many people to please 😞. All those tasks to be done ✅. It can leave us wondering what’s it’s all about. I often talk the WHY in business and life.

I have honestly been struggling this year in my WHY in lots of areas. I have been questioning…praying….and planning.

Then an opportunity comes along that you hadn’t been planning but puts my why into perspective.

I remember my first why is living for the glory of God. From that comes my dedication to my family which includes homeschooling. My why includes fighting for freedoms.

As I stood looking at these mountains today…everything seemed so much clearer. Now it’s time to reengage with the important in my life ❤️.

Where do you find your why???

This picture has absolutely summed up my life (not just recently). I find people, things, jobs, activities, etc. that I just LOVE so much I can't imagine ever letting them go..... I can't imagine that anything or anyone would ever be better.

I think back over my life and see it happen so often.

Boyfriends who I thought were "the one's" and when it ended I was crushed beyond belief... only to find my husband who is literally the absolute best.

Jobs that I thought were the greatest but ended up just being a job--- and remember we are all replaceable on jobs.

Directions I would take with my life believing it was THE best thing for me... only to find such disappointment.

Our daughters who we adopted out of a terrible situation and we thought we were the answer-- we had to do what was best for them... only to see that we were just a piece of the big picture and it was different than we could have imagined. Not the way WE wanted it--- but the best for them.

Sometimes we are holding so tight to the good---- that we forget God has the GREAT in store for us. And the ONLY way to get to the "great" is to be willing to release the good.

I recently have been letting go of so much "good"-- people, activities, and things that in our eyes seem like they are SO right. I have prayerfully considered each role I take, and each one I let go. I am fully trusting God on this journey.

I want to encourage you today if you need to release "good" in your life. It is OK! I think as long as prayer is involved in your decisions.... you can't go wrong.

This picture has been shared so much around social media that I am not able to find it's original owner.... but I want to give them credit. Please let me know if you know the creator of the artwork.

I could never.... (fill in the blank).

So often when we are sharing any part of our lives, we hear people reply with "I could never". It hit me last week when I heard it several times, about different parts of my life. These "I could never" statements often times come off as judgement.

- I could NEVER homeschool
- I could NEVER go see a chiropractor
- I could NEVER do an online (social media) business
- I could NEVER buy that product
- I could NEVER adopt children
- I could NEVER do your life

You know what--- if you say I could NEVER... you may be correct. If you decide you could never do something--before you have tried-- you may never do it. If you are placing judgement on another person and their choices.... maybe it isn't about them.

Remember that saying, "If you say you can or if you say you can't... you are right!"

When someone shares a part of their life.... are you quick to tell them "you could never" or do you find a way to turn that around to something more positive.

Some examples from the above statements:

"Wow, that is cool that you homeschool, what do you like most about it?"

"I would love to hear more about chiropractic care."

"It is so cool that you take on these challenges in your life. What could I do to support you, or how can I pray for you?"

In a world where negativity seems rampant... let's turn that around and be the positive light in someone's day.

Today…..this is all that matters. There is literally nothing more important. Let’s stop focusing on all the other things. 🙌

I’m going to practice what I preach and I’m taking several days off of social media. (I’ll explain more in stories this morning). I’ll be back the middle of next week ❤️
