🚨 JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE A GUN OUT DOESN’T MEAN IT SHOULD BE POINTED AT SOMEONE. 🚨
One of the most misunderstood concepts in fi****ms training is the difference between covering a suspect and holding someone at gunpoint.
Unless you’ve made the lawful decision that deadly force is immediately necessary, pointing a firearm directly at someone may not be the safest, smartest, or most legally defensible option.
Why?
✅ A firearm pointed directly at a person under stress increases the risk of an unintentional discharge caused by a startle response, loss of balance, someone bumping into you, or misinterpreting a movement as a deadly threat.
✅ When you point your firearm at a person’s face or chest, your hands and firearm can block your view of what matters most—their hands and waistband, where weapons are commonly concealed.
✅ By keeping the muzzle directed safely toward the ground near the suspect’s feet while maintaining a ready position and visual focus on the individual, you can better observe their hands, waistband, and movements while still being prepared to respond if a deadly threat emerges.
The goal is not simply to have a firearm. The goal is to be able to make sound decisions under stress, accurately perceive threats, avoid unnecessary force, and respond lawfully when action is required.
