The Impact Award is given to someone who has made a significant and lasting impact on the personal and professional character of the resident. Resident’s chose the person who characterized the description. Each recipient was given an engraved coin with a quote from The Prayer of Maimonides, “Should those who are wiser than I wish to improve and instruct me, let my soul gratefully follow their guidance; for vast is the extent of our art.”

Congratulations to our graduates, l-r: Mark Romano, DO; Ajay Eapen, MD; Angela Stilwell, MD; Shelby Robinson, MD; Abraham Lee, MD; Prashanth Patil, MD! While your journey as family medicine residents is coming to an end, the next chapter of your careers is on the horizon!
We celebrated our graduating residents at the 2026 Annual Graduation Ceremony. Family, friends and colleagues gathered together to honor our graduates for their hard work over the past 3 years.
The keynote address was provided by Bryan Dixon, MD; the Senior Award was presented by Michael Piggot, MD and the Graduate Address was provided by Prashanth Patil, MD. Program Director, Suzi Clarke, MD, moderated the event with assistance from Associate Program Director, Meredith Buck, MD.

SPOTLIGHT - Prashanth Patil, MD

What Peers Said
Dr. Patil is described as compassionate, empathetic, and an exceptional listener who brings genuine joy to his patients. He takes the time to understand each patient as a whole person and is deeply committed to improving their lives in meaningful ways. His strong bedside manner and ability to form authentic connections reflect how deeply he cares for his patients.

Future Plans
I plan to practice Primary Care potentially in Green Bay, WI. Looking forward to taking this summer to visit family and friends.

Greatest Experience
It has been a true pleasure to work with wonderful faculty, co-residents, students and staff who were all cooperative as a team and all educating each other. I feel being around this community and residency has taught me how to become a better physician. I have learned from being on several committees how to be a more effective leader. Having a residency in such a beautiful area was a tremendous stress reliever to walk through nature or paddleboard on Lake Superior. I feel blessed to be surrounded by the truly special and talented people that I have been able to work with.

SPOTLIGHT - Abraham Lee, MD

What Peers Said
Dr. Lee is known for being compassionate, empathetic, and approachable, putting patients at ease and fostering strong patient-physician relationships. He stays current with innovations in family medicine and integrates state-of-the-art knowledge into his practice. His adaptable approach allows him to be both efficient and forward-thinking in patient care.

Future Plans
I will be practicing family medicine at River Parc Internal Medicine Clinic in Duluth, Georgia

Greatest Residency Experiences
I enjoyed visiting patients at their houses during my hospice rotation and taking my paddle board out to Lake Superior.

Residents chose their own adventure at this physician wellness event—this group enjoyed a bike ride along the NTN South Trails to Morgan Falls and Carp River Falls along the Carp River and Carp Eh Diem trail. Between the calming natural surroundings and the benefits of low-impact exercise, it was a great way to recharge and boost overall wellness.

SPOTLIGHT - Shelby Robinson, MD
Dr. Robinson is known for being highly organized, knowledgeable, straightforward, and compassionate. Her kindness and authenticity allow her to easily build strong, lasting relationships with patients. She demonstrates confident leadership with both her care team and patients, advocates fiercely for those she serves, and meets patients where they are. She excels at delivering comprehensive, family-centered care and is consistently valued for her thoughtful, practical advice.

Future Plans
After residency, I will be working at South Shore Family Practice in Marquette, MI. I will be practicing full-spectrum Family Medicine including inpatient, outpatient, and obstetrics.

Greatest Residency Experiences
My greatest experience has been getting to work with so many intelligent and kind attendings and residents. I’ve had so many examples of exemplary physicians to learn from that have made me a better physician. My colleagues are some of the most empathetic and supportive people I have known and have made my residency experience positive and memorable in a way that would not have been possible without them.

Program Director of the Marquette Family Medicine Residency Program, Dr. Suzanne Clarke, completed the National Institute for Program Director Development fellowship. The program is specific to family medicine residency directors to develop excellence in residency education with focus on leadership development, resource allocation, familiarity with regulations and standards, educational options and personnel management skills. Congratulations Dr. Clarke!

I will be practicing inpatient and outpatient family medicine at Baraga County Memorial Hospital in L’Anse, MI
