Starting a small business on Long Island costs more than most people realize. Equipment, materials, software, and electric all go out before a dollar comes in, and a one person shop has to be the designer, maker, customer service, and shipping department all at once.

A manufacturer for Target came back to me after loving the dumplings, spring rolls, and egg rolls I made, and this time they wanted empanadas. I recreated their product down to the exact size and shape so their team could plan out how many fit in a box and how everything sits.

It's crazy that a big company found a small shop right here on Long Island through social media. You never know who's watching your work, and sometimes the biggest names find the smallest shops.

The longest print I've ever done was a Transitron from Toy Story for a friend's son, and it took about five days, not even counting the design and sketching time beforehand.

I tried to avoid supports as much as possible, but ended up needing a few anyway, and five days later it came out perfect.

Manufacturers stop making parts all the time, but that doesn't mean the whole item has to go in the trash. I've recreated fishing rod holders, cooler handles, kayak mounts, board game pieces, puzzle pieces, and plenty more.

A lot goes into running a real 3D printing business, from machines that run into the thousands to keeping every filament color on hand so there's no waiting around on orders. Add in nozzles, print beds, maintenance, and design software, and it's a real investment behind every piece.

Stop replacing the whole appliance over one broken plastic piece. I've recreated refrigerator clips, blind components, mounting brackets, and plenty of other one of a kind parts you just can't buy anywhere.
