Never in a million years did I think I’d find myself in the situation we were in as new parents — spending 66 days visiting our little fighter in the NICU. 💛 Once the initial shock wore off, I leaned into what I do best: creating calm through organization.
If you’ve ever had a loved one in the hospital, you know how overwhelming it can feel. From my perspective as both a mom and an RN, I truly believe that a calm, organized space helps everyone — the patient, family, and even the staff — feel more at peace.
Here are my NICU organizing essentials to make the space feel more home-like and comforting:
• Change of clothes + swaddles
• Laundry bag
• Travel bottle drying rack
• Snacks + water bottle
• Blanket + pillow
• Books (to read to baby & for yourself)
• Toiletry bag (for overnight stays)
• Polaroid camera + album
• Small craft (crochet, coloring, etc.)
• Labeled drawers (not essential, but so satisfying)
If you know someone with a loved one in the hospital, please share this with them. 🏥
And if you know a family walking through this journey, my inbox is always open to listen. 💌
