One of the best ways we grow as BNI members is by continuing to learn.

CEUs = Continuing Education Units ➡️ are more than just a number in the app. They represent time invested in sharpening our skills, improving our networking habits, and becoming better referral partners.
When we listen to podcasts, attend trainings, read BNI materials, or participate in educational sessions, we gain tools that help us show up stronger for our chapter and our businesses.

The more we learn, the more value we bring. And the more value we bring, the easier it becomes for others to know, like, trust, and refer us.

🏡 A huge thank you to Leslie Weaver with Gates Property Management for sharing valuable insight with our BNI Goldminers Mebane chapter about Section 8 Housing and the positive impact it can have on both our community and local landlords.
Leslie did an excellent job educating us on how Section 8 programs help provide safe, affordable housing opportunities while also creating benefits for property owners through reliable housing assistance payments and expanded tenant opportunities.

One of the biggest takeaways was clearing up some common misconceptions about Section 8 Housing. Here are 3 myths Leslie helped address:

❌ Misconception #1: “Section 8 tenants are bad tenants.”
✅ The truth is tenants still go through screening processes, and many families simply need assistance due to rising housing costs, disabilities, or life circumstances.

❌ Misconception #2: “Landlords don’t get paid consistently.”
✅ In many cases, housing authority payments are reliable and arrive consistently each month, helping provide stable rental income for landlords.

❌ Misconception #3: “Section 8 properties are harder to maintain.”
✅ Properties must meet inspection standards, which can actually encourage proper maintenance and quality housing conditions.
