Not all colors are created equal when it comes to UV resistance.

In rotational molding, pigments don’t just provide color. They play a big role in how a part weathers over time. Carbon black is one of the strongest UV stabilizers, often used in outdoor applications. Inorganic pigments like iron oxides, for example, typically hold up better against UV exposure than many organic pigments. While Organic pigments can provide bright, vibrant colors, they may fade faster without additional UV stabilizers.

When it comes to producing consistent, high-quality rotomolded parts, resin testing isn’t just helpful, it’s essential.

Some of the most effective ways to test resin properties for optimized performance:
1. Melt Index (MI): Helps determine flow characteristics — crucial for consistent wall thickness and mold fill.
2. Oxidative Induction Time (OIT): Tells you how well the resin will resist degradation during the heating cycle.
3. Density & Bulk Density: Impacts part strength and how the resin packs in the mold. Important for both mechanical properties and cycle efficiency.
4. Particle Size Distribution: Affects flow, sintering, and surface finish, especially critical for complex molds or granite effects.
5. Impact Strength & ESCR Testing: Ensures long-term durability, especially for outdoor or heavy-use applications.
