Most people think changing careers means starting over with a:
- Entry-level role.
- Lower salary.
- Another degree.

That belief keeps talented, experienced professionals stuck far longer than they need to be.

I transitioned from a middle/high school history teacher into instructional design, educational technology, and corporate training without getting another degree and without taking a significant pay cut—and I didn’t start over.

This week, I’m breaking down three proven ways to change careers without starting over, based on what I’ve done personally and what I now help others do every day.

Over the next few days, I’ll go deeper into each strategy with practical examples you can apply immediately.

Hot Tip of the Day for Job Seekers
Check with any institution you've graduated from or attended. Even as an alumnus, many schools offer FREE online Career Services that include:

Resume reviews and rewrites
Connections to recruiters
Access to exclusive job boards
Interview preparation and coaching

I've attended three colleges for various degrees, and all of them have provided some combination of these services. Take advantage of these resources before paying for similar services elsewhere—they could be the boost your job search needs.
