It’s heating up across California and the Reno area, and as we head into the thick of summer 2026, your team’s well-being is our top priority. ☀️

At Walmsley Safety, we believe heat illness prevention is about more than just checking a compliance box: it’s about looking out for your most valuable asset: your people. The "Water, Rest, Shade" principle is simple but life-saving:

💧 Water: Stay hydrated throughout the day, not just when you're thirsty.
🌳 Shade: Provide a cool place to recover from the direct sun.
⏲️ Rest: Allow for frequent breaks to lower body temperature.

The most important step? Monitoring. Keep an eye on each other. If someone seems sluggish or confused, take action immediately. A proactive, caring culture keeps everyone safe and productive.

We’re here to help you build that culture. If you need a hand setting up your 2026 heat safety plan, just reach out! We are always happy to share free advice to keep your crew protected.

Burnout isn't just a "bad day" or an HR talking point: in 2026, we recognize it as a serious physical safety hazard. 🧠💤

When we’re mentally exhausted, our reaction times slow down and our focus drifts. Whether you’re on a construction site in Reno or managing a warehouse in California, a split-second lapse in concentration can have real-world consequences.

At Walmsley Safety, we truly care about the people behind the work. A rested, alert mind is your best piece of PPE! Taking genuine breaks and checking in on your teammates isn't just "nice to do": it’s essential for preventing accidents and keeping everyone out of harm's way.

We love sharing what we know to help keep your workplace thriving. If you’re looking for ways to integrate mental fatigue awareness into your safety culture without the dry, technical jargon, we’re always here to help. Let’s keep each other safe, both mentally and physically.

Ladders might seem simple, but they’re one of the most common sources of workplace injuries. Whether you're in a warehouse or a construction site, safety starts from the ground up! 🪜

Quick reminder on the 4-to-1 Rule: For every 4 feet of ladder height, the base should be 1 foot away from the wall. This keeps things stable and prevents slips.

And don't forget the golden rule: Maintain three points of contact at all times (two hands and one foot, or two feet and one hand).

Good housekeeping is the foundation of a safe workplace.

A stray cord, a cluttered walkway, or a small spill might seem minor, but slips, trips, and falls remain some of the most common workplace injuries across all industries. Taking five minutes at the end of the day to clear your area isn't just about being organized: it's about looking out for your colleagues.

In an emergency, every second counts. Does your team know where to go without thinking? An Emergency Action Plan shouldn't just be a binder on a shelf. Take a moment this week to walk your exit routes and confirm everyone knows the designated assembly point. Preparation today prevents panic tomorrow.

It’s tempting to plug one power strip into another to reach that extra monitor, but "daisy-chaining" is a major fire hazard and an OSHA violation.

Power strips are designed to be plugged directly into a permanent outlet. Overloading them can lead to overheating and potential fires. Keep your workspace safe by ensuring you have enough permanent outlets for your equipment.

Need a safety audit of your office or warehouse? We’re here to help.
