A Scout patch you can tap. That's what we brought to the 2026 National Scout Jamboree.
For over a century, Scout patches have carried significant meaning. Scouts earned them, traded them, and held onto them for decades. Some even fetched a premium on resale sites. Small objects, outsized meaning.
This year, we teamed up with Scouting America to launch their first-ever NFC emblems at the National Jamboree in West Virginia. This project also builds on a long legacy through Avery Dennison's acquisition of Lion Brothers; we're proud to continue a relationship with Scouting America rooted in more than 100 years of badge and patch craftsmanship, now reimagined for a new generation. The event has now wrapped, and the results proved something we believed all along: heritage and technology don't have to compete.
Two emblems. Two firsts.
🗺️ Gnorm's Great Scavenger Hunt NFC Emblem powered the first-ever digital scavenger hunt at a National Jamboree. Scouts used NFC check-ins across the site to explore new program areas, try fresh activities, and chase the elusive Gnorm, turning the whole property into an interactive adventure. On the first day that youth were onsite, it completely sold out.
🥇 The Elevate Commemorative NFC Emblem took a different path. A premium keepsake finished in gold mylar with the "Elevate" tagline front and center. One tap unlocked a digital video memory book, letting Scouts revisit the friendships, adventures, and moments that made their Jamboree unforgettable.
One emblem sparked exploration. The other preserved it. Both kept the object Scouts already treasured and gave it a new layer of value.
Avery Dennison is proud to be part of this milestone, helping Scouting America bring a beloved tradition into the digital age - one tap at a time.
