Run a humidifier in the room this will thin the secretions making them easier to remove and less likely to obstruct the airways. Saline drops for infants are sold at most pharmacys. It is important to suction out the mucus before feeding. Instill 1 drop of saline in each nare and suction immediately after. If you notice signs of grunting or retraction at sternum or glottis turn baby to side not back for sleep. Keep the airway as clear as possible prior to feeding. Monitor your baby’s temperature and if fever follow up with a Pediatrician.
