Today reminded us why we started Lasting Joy LLC.

Not because of flyers.
Not because of marketing.
Not because of business growth.

But because of people.

The husband caring for his wife.
The daughter trying to understand a parent’s changes.
The community leaders looking for better support and education.
The older adults who simply want to stay connected and involved.

We were honored to participate in the Senior Summer Celebration and spend the day surrounded by individuals and organizations working to make aging in the Permian Basin a little brighter.

Every conversation matters.
Every connection matters.
Every act of kindness matters.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table and shared part of your story with us.

We’re excited for what’s ahead as we continue creating opportunities for education, support, connection, and joy throughout our community.

June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month, and this week includes National SAFE Day—a reminder that safety planning is an important part of caring for ourselves and those we love.

For families navigating dementia or other brain changes, conversations about driving, medications, finances, and home safety often become necessary. Firearm ownership is another topic that deserves thoughtful planning before a crisis occurs.

The Firearm Life Plan is a voluntary planning tool that helps firearm owners think through future decisions, document their wishes, and communicate those plans with trusted family members and friends. The goal is to preserve safety, independence, and personal legacy through proactive conversations. https://firearmlifeplan.org/
National SAFE Day also reminds us to:
✔️ Secure fi****ms in the home
✔️ Ask questions about firearm safety when children visit other homes
✔️ Talk openly about safety
✔️ Educate and empower others to be SAFE

Difficult conversations are often easier when they’re held early, with respect, dignity, and a shared commitment to safety.

If you’re supporting a loved one with dementia or other brain changes, now may be a good time to begin discussing future plans together.

💜 Safety planning is not about taking something away.
💜 It’s about protecting what matters most.

🧠💜 June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month, and brain wellness doesn’t have to be complicated.

Many activities that support brain health can be woven into everyday life:

🪥 Brush your teeth with your non-dominant hand
💇 Brush your hair with your non-dominant hand
🤚 Pat your head with one hand while rubbing your belly with the other—then switch
👟 Join a SilverSneakers® class or take a walk with a friend
🎶 Learn a new dance step or move to your favorite song
🧩 Try a puzzle, word game, or brain teaser
📞 Call someone you haven’t talked to in a while
📖 Read a book, article, or devotion on a new topic
🌿 Spend time outdoors and notice five things you can see, hear, or feel
💧 Drink a glass of water and take a few deep breaths

These simple activities challenge different parts of the brain, encourage movement, support social connection, and help build healthy habits over time.

And because protecting our brains also means being prepared for emergencies, National CPR & AED Awareness Week reminds us that learning CPR and knowing where AEDs are located can make a difference when every second counts.

Brain health isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about making small choices each day that support learning, movement, connection, and joy.

💜 Small steps. Stronger brains. More joy.

June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month, and this week is National CPR & AED Awareness Week.

When a cardiac emergency occurs, every second counts. Quick action, CPR, and access to an AED can help save a life and protect the brain from further injury.

Whether you’re caring for a loved one, working in healthcare, serving older adults, or simply want to be prepared, CPR and First Aid training are valuable skills that can make a difference when it matters most.

Let’s talk about preparedness:
❤️ Do you know how to recognize a cardiac emergency?
❤️ Have your CPR skills been updated recently?
❤️ Do you know where the nearest AED is located?

At Lasting Joy, we believe education builds confidence and strengthens communities. This awareness week is a great reminder to check your certification status, learn where AEDs are located in your community, or take a CPR and First Aid class for the first time.

For local training opportunities, connect with our friends at and learn how you can be prepared to respond when every second counts. ❤️

Today we celebrate Intergenerational Day and the beautiful connections that happen when generations come together.

Moments shared between children, parents, grandparents, and older adults can spark joy, encourage conversation, and create meaningful connection — especially for individuals living with dementia or other brain changes.

Simple activities like:
📖 Reading stories together
🎶 Singing familiar songs
🎨 Creating art or crafts
🌱 Gardening side by side
💬 Sharing family memories

can help build confidence, comfort, and belonging for everyone involved.

Intergenerational connection reminds us that care is not only about support — it is also about sharing joy, wisdom, curiosity, and love across every season of life.

What is a favorite memory you have shared across generations? 💜

Today on World MS Day, we honor individuals and families living with Multiple Sclerosis and recognize the resilience they show each day.

MS can affect movement, energy, memory, emotions, and daily routines in ways others may not always see. A little patience, understanding, and support can make a meaningful difference.

At Lasting Joy, we believe compassionate care begins with seeing the person before the diagnosis and celebrating the strengths that remain.

Let’s continue building communities rooted in kindness, accessibility, and connection. 💜

As the week comes to a close, take a moment to notice the small things that brought comfort or joy.

In caregiving and dementia support, meaningful moments are often quiet ones — a smile, a calm conversation, familiar music, or simply sitting together in peace.

Those moments matter deeply.

You do not have to create a perfect day to create a meaningful one.

Wishing you gentle waves and moments of joy this Friday. 💜

Music has a special way of reaching places words sometimes cannot.

For people living with dementia or other brain changes, familiar songs can spark memories, improve mood, encourage movement, and create moments of connection. And the best part? You don’t need a full activity plan to make it meaningful.

Try:
🎵 Playing favorite songs during daily routines
💃 Having a mini dance party in the kitchen or living room
👏 Clapping or tapping along to the beat
🪑 Encouraging seated dancing or gentle swaying
🎤 Singing together, even if the words aren’t perfect

Movement and music together can shift the energy in a room and bring joy to both the care partner and the person receiving care.

This week, let the music play a little louder and the joy move a little freer. 💜
