At CHNA 6, we’re proud to support programs that help children and families navigate life’s most difficult moments. 💙

Through CHNA 6 grant funding, the Healing Hearts Child Grief Group is able to offer creative, evidence-informed activities that help children process grief in ways that feel safe and meaningful.

Last week, the group created Memory Gardens—decorating vases with cherished memories of loved ones while crafting colorful pipe cleaner flowers. As grief clinician Meghan Monahan often says, “Children grieve in invisible ways.” Projects like these help make those feelings visible through creativity and connection.

The children’s heartfelt memories were simple yet powerful. One vase read, “When you took me to the movies.” Another shared, “Snuggles.”

Even more encouraging, two of the three children who participated are returned for continued support, demonstrating the lasting value of accessible grief services.

We’re honored to partner with organizations that provide compassionate care and create spaces where children can remember, express themselves, and heal.

CHNA 6 will be taking a short summer hiatus, until we meet again in September! As we wrap up the season, we want to extend our sincere appreciation to everyone for their participation, engagement, and support! Your involvement has made this past season truly meaningful and impactful! We will continue to share helpful resources throughout the summer to keep you informed and connected.

Please feel free to reach out with any ideas or suggestions for future presentations; your input helps shape our future meetings and ensures we meet the needs of our community.

An update from the Executive Director of Medway Village Food Pantry, Susan Dietrich and how they’ve used CHNA6 grant funds to begin building their food pantry in Medway.

“We consider the grant from CHNA6 to be a cornerstone of this project that helped us to develop early momentum, and I am so grateful to all of you for your support and belief in us.”

Thank you to everyone from CHNA6 who joined us yesterday at Memorial Hall in Milford for such an important and meaningful conversation on homelessness.

A special thank you to our incredible panelists for leading a thoughtful discussion rooted in compassion, collaboration, and hope. Together, we explored real ideas for change and community-centered solutions, including:

• Building a shelter in every town
• Creating local coalitions made up of diverse community members to help manage homelessness collaboratively
• Funding transportation to improve access to services and opportunities
• De-stigmatizing homelessness through personal connection, conversation, and understanding
• Using mitigation and mediation as tools for prevention
• Remembering to be human first and to be a neighbor
• Thinking outside the box with creative ideas like community vending machines stocked with essential goods and agency information — so support is available when individuals are ready to seek help
• Emphasizing personal agency and meeting people where they are

The conversation reminded us that meaningful progress starts with empathy, partnership, and a willingness to listen. Thank you to everyone who participated and continues to work toward stronger, more compassionate communities. 💙
