Aloha Hawaii Chapter! I hope you are all
doing well and enjoying the summer,
family, friends and some vacation time,
stay safe. The Hawaii Chapter of the
Appraisal Institute has been busy and I
hope you have joined us for some of our
events, and trust me, we have much
more planned. Our mission is to
advance professionalism and ethics,
global standards, methodologies, and
practices through the professional
development of property economics
worldwide.

With business getting slower and tighter, now is the time to distinguish
yourself from other appraisers that hold the basic State Certification,
consider joining the Appraisal Institute to get a designation and stand out
above other appraisers without the designation and support of the Appraisal
Institute.
I can tell you it has certainly helped my business over the years and has
really been vital to my business especially in the past couple of years.
Professionals that utilize appraiser services recognize the quality of an
Appraisal Institute designated appraiser. The Appraisal Institute is not “my
dad’s” Appraisal Institute and they are working to support its members and
is the leading advocate for all real estate valuation professionals, so consider
being a member. Feel free to reach out to myself or any of the membership

Although the year is half over, we have saved the best for the end of the year,
but we will get to that later. So far this year, in February our new social
media team launched our Instagram account, you can now find us on
Instagram , check us out for updates and events. They
even updated and refreshed out website ai-hawaii.org, check it out. With
much more updates, pictures and announcements coming up

In a new report, the National Association of Realtors (NAR) said that a wave of retiring appraisers and a lack of new entrants into the field could create a serious shortage of available appraisers for the housing and mortgage markets, particularly in rural areas.

Only 1.5%, it has been my experience that homeowners think "their" house is more like 10-25% higher than appraised value.
