A person’s body language portrays just as much information as their words, so to ensure that you make that strong first impression, consider practicing your elevator pitch in front of a mirror with attention to how your body is responding as you speak.

Here are some body language cues to look for when you are practicing your pitch:

-Stance - open and welcoming position

-Arm Position - relaxed, not folded across the body

-Expression - active and interested

-Eye Contact - showing active participation in the conversation

As you have a limited amount of time to make that first impression (60 seconds or less), you need to be sure your pitch has all the following:

-Who you are

-What you do

-Client/customer identification

-Description of how your company is different/unique

-Your company goals

-Something interesting about you, your company, product, or idea
