Last week Community Council members joined Mayor Cavalier Johnson, Alderman Robert Bauman, Dept. of City Development Commissioner Lafayette Crump, and Beth Weirick of Milwaukee Downtown, Inc. as they presented at the FINAL Plan Advisory Group meeting for the next Downtown Plan update: Connec+ing MKE – Downtown Plan 2040.

We learned more about the Plan’s Big Ideas and key projects as we prepare for and continue our collective implementation efforts for the Plan’s recommendations and projects.

P3 partners were selected for the 2022 cohort of EY’s Entrepreneurs Access Network, a national business accelerator designed to support Black and Latino entrepreneurs as they transcend barriers and scale their businesses. This transformational experience provided P3 with resources and inspiration that will fuel our future growth.

From P3 projects including the City of Milwaukee’s Business Capacity Building Program and the Greater Milwaukee Committee Greater Milwaukee Committee’s Scale Up Milwaukee initiative, we know firsthand how important entrepreneurial equity is. There are significant disparities in entrepreneurship start-up and success for women and people of color. These differences are due, in part, to significant inequities in accumulated wealth, access to capital, and the development of valuable networks that provide business and support.

We are excited to continue the journey with EAN and are headed to Atlanta for EY’s first ever EAN Spring Summit 2023 in May. Looking forward to connecting with all EAN cohorts for learning and networking. More to come soon!

P3 is the Equity & Engagement Consultant for the City of Milwaukee Downtown Plan Update: Connec+ing MKE – Downtown Plan 2040.

Over the last year, P3 has worked with the City of Milwaukee and Downtown BID to convene a group of diverse residents to get critical input from underrepresented populations. Collectively, we have gotten participation from every zip code in our City. Last week, we had our final Community Council meeting where we provided updates and next steps.

We hope this equitable engagement process breaks down barriers and becomes a model for future planning efforts. Kudos to the City, the BID team and this excellent Community Planning Council!

It was great to be back in Green Bay for the Wisconsin Governor’s Conference on Tourism to celebrate the travel industry and the powerful women leading it. Congratulations to our partners who were recognized with Governor's Tourism Awards with the Diversity, Equity, Accessibility and Inclusion Award and with the Legacy Award!

P3 Partner continues to serve on the Tourism Department’s DEAI Committee, advising on efforts to ‘foster a positive travel experience for all’, a key imperative in the Department’s strategic plan. To advance this effort, P3 is proud to be partnering with to deliver a series of DEAI trainings for Wisconsin’s tourism professionals. Together we are stronger!
