I get so much joy from sharing leadership lessons from the city of New Orleans. 2LX:NOLA was a success. We laughed, we cried, we didn’t let rain keep us from building even stronger community, digging deep into the resistance and resilience, culture and connections, power and purpose that exists here.

So many thank you’s to my team, panelists, local culture bearers and vendors. Let’s do it again next year. See you in September! :NOLA

Who would have ever guessed that my Legacy Lab would reveal new details about my personal life?

Let me tell you about a recent serendipitous moment. I met someone who shares my very unique name. Turns out, we’re not only name twins, but our mothers grew up on the same street… and named us after the same person.

If that isn’t a divine connection, I don’t know what is. I’m still processing the layers of connection, legacy, and mystery wrapped up in our encounter.

We’re going to find our namesake. Does she even know the impact that she had on our young mothers? Does she know we exist?

Stay tuned as the journey continues.

I recently sat down with Steve Davis Jr., founder of Strive Higher After Sports, to explore the powerful journey of reinventing one’s identity beyond athletics.

Whether you’re an athlete facing transition, a leader navigating change, or anyone seeking purpose after a major life shift, this episode is packed with wisdom.
Steve shares his personal story of overcoming the loss of his sports dream, battling identity crisis, and finding new meaning through design thinking and community.

You’ll hear practical strategies for building resilience, embracing your true self, and leveraging your unique story for future success. Check out the latest episode of Ordinary Leaders Podcast on my YouTube channel or wherever you get your podcasts.

Leadership is supposed to build you and those around you, not break you.

Too many leaders are leading from a space of depletion.

We’re running out of the door in the morning hopped up on caffeine and other coping mechanisms. We “wear our shoulders as earrings” and breath with shallow breaths throughout the day. At night, we can’t sleep. We wake up tired each morning and we don’t always realize that we are dysregulated.

Restorative Leadership is an approach that asks us to harmonize our thoughts, emotions, and physical being so that our leadership has clarity and presence.

Unlike other less equity-centered approaches, it’s sustainable.

Restorative leaders understand that equity, empathy, and effectiveness are priorities. When we restore ourselves, we restore our capacity to lead others with integrity, humanity, and purpose.

Is your leadership restorative?

If you’re a leader who’s ready to engage in more human-centered, embodied leadership approach — let’s talk.

This month’s episode of The Ordinary Leaders Podcast is up and it hits close to home. I sat down with the two incredible dance teachers from my son’s high school who helped nurture his professional dance career. We talked about what it means to cultivate brilliance, to see potential before it blooms, and to hold space for young people to explore who they are becoming. We also remember our precious Zack August who we lost a year ago this week. Whether you’re an educator, parent, or simply passionate about personal growth, you’ll find powerful lessons on collaboration, resilience, and finding your voice.
