I am incredibly honored and humbled to accept the Democratic nomination for Texas State Board of Education District 7.
Thank you to every voter who believed in this campaign. Thank you to every person who shared a post, sent a message, donated, volunteered, invited me into your community, or simply told me to keep going.
I especially want to thank the people who reached out over these past months to say that the work I’m doing matters. Those messages carried me through the exhaustion, the uncertainty, and the moments where this all felt much bigger than me. Knowing that educators, parents, students, and community members across SBOE District 7 feel seen in this campaign is what kept me moving forward.
This campaign would not exist without an incredible team behind it. Thank you to my campaign manager, Kenecia Oliver, and my deputy campaign manager, Ashley Carter, for believing in this vision and helping a classroom teacher who has never run for political office build this campaign. Thank you for always telling me what I need to hear rather than just what I want to hear.
And to my husband, Jordan Perkinz thank you for being my right hand and my biggest supporter through every step of this journey. In just two months, we will celebrate 17 years of marriage, and I could not have done any of this without you beside me. Thank you for holding our family together while I chased something bigger than myself.
Finally, I want to thank my runoff opponent, Debra Ambroise for running a strong campaign. I admire and appreciate her dedication to our community and her years of public service, and I genuinely hope we can continue working toward the shared goal of putting a public education advocate on the State Board of Education for District 7. To those who supported Debra during this race, I want you to know there is absolutely a place for you in this campaign moving forward. Public education is bigger than any one primary, and we are going to need a broad coalition to win in November.
Because while today is worth celebrating, we know what still lies ahead. We are now facing a MAGA-backed opponent with more than $141,000 already sitting in her campaign war chest. This next phase is going to take every single one of us.
