It was such an honor to be a part of the Pine Belt Women’s Summit this year!

Alana D. Tanner brought us “Your Setback Is Not Your Story,” sharing a message about resilience that came from personal experience. At just 40 years old, Alana suffered a stroke that changed her life and spent three years relearning how to walk, followed later by brain surgery.

Her challenge to us was simple: prepare for interruption.

Instead of asking, “Why me?” shift to “What now?”

We may not be able to control what happens, but we CAN control our response, communication, preparation, priorities, and leadership.

She also challenged every business owner to think about what would happen if we suddenly had to step away. Are our systems written down? Who could step in? Have we built relationships and created margin BEFORE we need them?

One of our favorite reminders:

“Emotion is information. It doesn't have to be instruction.”

And the perfect way to end it:

“Our setbacks don't define us. Our comebacks do!” - Alana D. Tanner

Thank you, Alana! ❤️

Emotional intelligence has been called a "soft skill" for years.
I think that's one of the biggest leadership myths out there.
Emotional intelligence determines:
✔ How well you communicate
✔ How you handle conflict
✔ Whether people trust you
✔ How you respond under pressure
✔ How effectively you lead
The reality is that most workplace problems aren't technical problems.
They're people problems.
And people problems require emotional intelligence.
The leaders who create the strongest teams aren't always the smartest people in the room.
They're often the people who can stay calm during uncertainty, have difficult conversations, listen well, and build trust.
That's not soft.
That's strategic.

Hi everyone — I’m Alana D. Tanner, PCC, and I’m excited to officially welcome you to my page.
I’m a Workplace & Interpersonal Dynamics Coach, and I help people communicate, lead, and work better together.

Over the years, I’ve seen how many workplace problems are actually people problems in disguise — miscommunication, unclear expectations, conflict avoidance, emotional reactions, lack of trust, difficult personalities, burnout, and teams that simply don’t know how to connect effectively. These challenges don’t just impact organizations…they impact confidence, relationships, performance, and everyday life.

My mission is to help individuals, leaders, and organizations strengthen the human side of success through better communication, emotional intelligence, interpersonal skills, self-awareness, and healthier workplace dynamics.

My coaching style is honest, practical, supportive, and growth-focused. I believe real transformation happens when people learn how to communicate clearly, navigate relationships effectively, and lead with both confidence and emotional intelligence.

Whether you’re:
• struggling with workplace conflict
• trying to become a stronger leader
• wanting to improve communication skills
• navigating difficult relationships or team dynamics
• or simply wanting to grow personally and professionally

—you’re in the right place.

This page will be a place for conversations, insights, tools, encouragement, and real-world strategies that help people work and live better together.

I’m glad you’re here. 💙
