Become the DSO Seminars Disrupting the dental industry to put power back in the hands of dentists

A note from Brady Frank:

"This is from an email I received last week:

'Brady - I keep hearing you say, 'Now more than ever, private equity is pouring a ton of money into dentistry...'

But...Why? Can you explain what is motivating that?'

GREAT QUESTION.

And the answer in three words is:
Underpriced cash flow.

Dental practices stand out as dependable cash flow generators. For example, a well-run dental practice produces a minimum of 300K of annual cash flow after compensating the dentists.

You can get this cash flow for a fraction of, let's say, the rent receipts from a piece of real estate, and it's just as low-risk.

And that’s what private equity is investing in—the low-risk, reliable cash flow."

Most dentists would need to save and grow over $10M in cash in their retirement accounts to maintain close to their current lifestyle while in practice.

And most dentists see saving this much from the clinical practice of dentistry as nearly impossible.

So, as you consider selling your practice, remember it's a stepping stone to new opportunities and growth. It doesn't have to be the end, but rather a natural progression in your career—whatever you want it to be.

- 55% of dentists are planning to retire within 10 years

- Almost 30% of dentists report not being fully satisfied with their income

- Nearly 3/4 of dentists will have to raise fees at their practices before the end of 2023

You can rethink your career without leaving the industry. You can be a dentist saving dentistry without being a dentist in the clinical chair.

How are you at thinking "outside the chair"?

T. Harv Eker, a successful author, and entrepreneur, once said that "selling a business is more lucrative than operating one."

Let's say this is the case. Let's say you do it.

Now... Take a moment to imagine your future self:

You're looking back with a sense of relief as you think about a time when you wore far too many hats in your dental practice. (If you're an introvert, these times were excrutiating).

Gone are the days of scrambling over administrative tasks, handling staffing complications, and worrying about collections—all these burdens you shouldered alone.

You've gone from frazzled dental practice owner to relaxed dental care professional with enough time left to recharge your physical and mental batteries. And you're focusing on what truly energizes you in and outside of dentistry.

What is holding you back? What scares you? What is exciting?

According to the American Dental Association, “40-60% of dental professionals suffer from work-related musculoskeletal issues, such as low back pain.”

Dr. Bethany Valachi, DPT and author of Practice Dentistry Pain-Free, stated that during the pandemic these issues increased and came with more symptoms: mental fatigue, physical exhaustion, dehydration.

Does this hit a little too close to home?

Here are some physical ways you can decrease back pain:

- Walk and stretch between procedures—even if it's for only a few minutes.

- Exercise. Even a few days of light exercise, like ditching the golf cart and walking the course instead, can be a great way to change things up.

- Practicing gentle yoga is a great way to lengthen the spine. Even five to ten minutes can help.

- Walking with the shoulders back helps with posture and core activation.

- Investing in a stand-up desk or a converter is a great way to mix up the positions you work in, decreasing the load on your spine.

- Ditch the device when you can. Hours on your phone or tablet can lead to terrible posture.
